Sustainability At Moonpig

Helping people connect, with care

At Moonpig, we’re all about life’s big moments, little moments and just-because moments. Birthdays, weddings, thank-yous, thinking-of-yous – you name it, we’re here for it.

And while we love helping people make someone’s day, we want to do it with care. Care for the person opening the card, care for the people who make it happen and care for the planet we all share.

That’s why we’re working to reduce our environmental impact, improve our packaging, support our communities and protect the trust our customers place in us every day.

What we’re working on

We know sustainability isn’t a one-and-done job. It’s a journey, and we’re focused on making practical progress where it can make the biggest difference.

Reducing our carbon footprint

We’re working to reduce carbon emissions from our own operations and across our wider value chain. That includes the products, packaging and services we buy.

Across our operations, we’re improving energy efficiency and using more renewable electricity wherever we can. In FY26, 100% of the electricity we purchased came from renewable sources. We’ve also invested in onsite solar panels at our Almere and Tamworth sites, and we’re looking at where we can add even more.

Most of our carbon footprint sits outside our offices and fulfilment sites, so working closely with suppliers is a big part of the plan. We’re teaming up with key partners to improve emissions data, encourage credible climate targets and support lower-carbon ways of sourcing, packing and delivering our products over time. In FY26, 37.5% of our supply chain emissions came from suppliers who share our net zero commitments.

Our focus: cut what we can, work together on the bigger stuff and keep getting better.

Using materials responsibly

Cards, gifts and flowers all need materials and packaging. The trick is using them as responsibly as possible.

Our cards are printed on demand, which means we only make them when you order them. No piles of unwanted stock sitting around. Just the cards people actually want, made when they want them.

Across our UK and Dutch operations, 100% of our paper, envelope and packaging materials are sustainably sourced, either through FSC certification or high recycled content. We’ve also removed single-use plastics from shipping packaging in our UK and Dutch operations.

We’re also focussing on making our packaging smarter, cutting out anything unnecessary and making recycling it as easy as possible once your order arrives.

Our focus: source responsibly, use less, design better and make recycling easier.

Reducing waste

Waste? We’d rather not, thanks.

We’re working to reduce waste across our fulfilment sites and product ranges.

At our Tamworth fulfilment centre, we achieved zero waste to landfill status in FY26. Waste from the site is carefully sorted so materials such as cardboard, paper, metals and wood can be recycled. Anything left is used for energy recovery instead of being sent to landfill.

Our partners are also engaged in this journey, giving unwanted materials a useful second life. For example, our flower supplier sends floral offcuts to a paper mill, where they can be turned into packaging material. From flower scraps to packaging – pretty clever, really.

We’re continuing to improve how we measure and manage waste, including packaging and operational waste.

Our focus: stop waste where we can and find better uses for the bits we can’t avoid.

Giving back to people and communities

Moonpig is all about bringing people closer. So, it only feels right to share some of that love with the communities around us too.

Through the Moonpig Group Foundation, we support initiatives that create connections and spark moments of joy. We also encourage our people to get involved through matched funding for employee donations and paid time off for volunteering.

Since the Foundation was established in 2021, Moonpig Group has made £1 million in cumulative donations.

This includes our support for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity in the UK, helping children and families through the moments that matter most. In the Netherlands, we also support Stichting Jarige Job, helping children enjoy a birthday celebration when they might otherwise miss out.

Our focus: use the power of connection to support people and communities.

Our journey so far

Not bad going – and we’re excited to keep building on it.

What this means for your order

When you choose Moonpig, we want you to know we’re working behind the scenes to make every order more responsible over time.

That includes:

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we know there’s still plenty more to do. We’ll keep sharing updates as we learn, improve and move forward.

How you can help

Once your order arrives, take a quick look at the packaging for recycling guidance and recycle it wherever facilities are available.

Small actions add up. Together, we can make meaningful moments a little lighter on the planet.
