The Glengoyne Distillery produces some of the finest un-peated whiskies Scotland has to offer. They make some bold claims, but when you look to challenge them, they can back them all up and then some. They insist that their oak casks are air dried for three years, filled with sherry for three years and only then are they emptied and shipped over to the distillery to be filled with whisky, destined for a minimum of 10 years maturation. This is a magnificent Highland single malt from a top-class outfit. Green apples come first, followed by toffee and just a little hazelnut. It is wonderfully smooth, incredibly moreish and perfectly balanced.
