What is the new form of sexting that has Aussies hooked?

As written in WHO, by Saoirse Hammond

People are no strangers to sexting, we’ve have been doing it for over 4,000 years.Well, kind of. The earliest signs of ‘sexting’ (or at least: sending an I-want-you message) dates back to 2000 B.C. in a Sumarian love letter dedicated to King Shu-Sin. While we admittedly don’t know much about him, we reckon our attention would also be piqued if someone spoke to us about “honey-filled bed chambers” and “trembling touches”. And, as times have moved on, one thing remains true- we love sending suggestive messages. Now there’s a new way of doing it, and certified sex educator Eleanor Hadley told WHO she’s on board.

What is the newest form of sexting?

As the saying goes: Pictures are worth a thousand words, and that is the basis of the latest form of sexting. Instead of trying to come up with sexy texts you would never utter in real life, do one better and try sending cheeky pics instead. For Valentine’s Day, Moonpig are giving Aussies the option to send spicy pictures of themselves to their lovers (consensually, of course!)Sydney Sweeney posing cheekily in the mirror. What does sending a ‘cheeky pic’ mean?

Sending cheeky pics is more or less sending any kind of sensual photo of yourself to another. It can be anything from a full-length pic of you in your underwear to a teasing shoulder shot.Certified sex educator Eleanor Hadley told WHO it’s much more than just sending a photo of yourself.“I always teach my students to see themselves as art, as their own muse, and to reframe this as erotic, sensual self portraiture – rather than explicit pictures. There’s SUCH an art to it,” she said. “I’d suggest if people are (consensually) sending a card to their lover, to be creative and artistic about it. It’ll lead to intrigue and desire more. It’s the art of seduction!”So yes, PSA: you don’t have to be stark naked to send a cheeky pic. It’s often recommended not to include your face in the photo.Certified sex and relationship expert Georgia Grace also said that a “great sex life thrives on openness and trust” so sending a cheeky photo to a trusted lover or partner can be a great way to stay connected.
